Vincent Hurtado, junior, was named as the COHS Boy’s State representative. A board from the American Legion post 755 interviewed five students, and Vincent was chosen to attend from COHS. Vincent said, “I’m excited to be attending and honored that I was chosen among some of the top students in my class of 2015.” Boy’s State is a conference sponsored by American Legion where nominated high school students are taught about city, county, and state governments by creating a mock society. Elections are held, and the students hold government positions. The event is held during the summer on June 21-28. Mr. Bud Harte, his English teacher, said, “Vincent is a very wonderful student and a great choice to represent our school.” Vincent is also participates in water polo, swim and Boy Scouts. He is a good student academically and a well-rounded person. Some of his goals are to continue his current roles in sports and to become an Eagle Scout. His future goals are to receive a master’s degree in Robotics Engineering and to work at JPL. Vincent is grateful for this recognition and is proud to represent the school. He said, “This conference will open up many doorways for me in life for a higher education and give me excellent life skills”. (Article Courtesy of "theboltlive.com")
